Who do I call if I have billing questions?
Please call our billing department, toll free, at 1-877-235-7686. A Billing Specialist is available to speak with you Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:00pm.

Will my insurance cover this test?
Generally, most radiology procedures are covered by your health insurance, however, coverage does vary from plan to plan. Since we do not have access to the details of your policy, we recommend contacting your insurance carrier with specific questions regarding your coverage. The phone number can be located on the back of your insurance card.

Why did my insurance deny my claim?
There are many reasons your insurance could deny your claim. Typically, it may be due to member eligibility, benefit levels, or other contractual terms within your policy. Often times, your insurance company may simply require additional information before they will make a payment. Contacting your insurance company for a full explanation of why your claim was denied may better assist you in understanding their processing of your claim.

What is deductible/coinsurance?
The deductible is the amount of patient responsibility before insurance covers certain procedures. For your deductible information, you will need to contact your insurance carrier. Coinsurance is the percentage you are responsible for after you have met your deductible.

Why did I receive a bill from the hospital and Radiology Associates of Wyoming Valley for the same exam?
When you have any radiology procedure performed in a hospital setting or a hospital owned facility, there will almost always be two charges. The hospital will bill for the technical portion of your examination (room time, technologists, equipment, etc.) and the radiologists will bill for the reading and interpretation of your examination (which includes a written report for your doctor and a consultation if necessary) or for interventional services performed.

Why am I getting a bill from a doctor whom I have never met?
The doctor on our bill is a Specialist in Radiology. He or she is trained to interpret x-rays, MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, PET scans and mammograms. Most of the time, the radiologist does not meet with the patient, rather, he or she reports the findings directly to your doctor who ordered the test.

Why did I get a bill from the hospital for radiology services?
If your radiology exam was performed at the hospital they will send you a bill for the costs associated with their facility. This represents room and equipment use, supplies, labor costs and other operating expenses. The radiologist is an independent contractor and will send you an invoice for the supervision, reading and interpretation of a diagnostic study and for any direct patient care associated with an interventional or therapeutic study.

My insurance should have paid 100%. Why am I being billed for a balance?
You should have received an explanation of benefits statement from your insurer showing the amount covered by your policy, the amount for which you are responsible and an explanation as to why such payment was or was not made. Since we do not know the terms of your insurance policy, we suggest contacting your insurance carrier if you have any questions about your explanation of benefits. You will find their phone number on the back of your insurance card.

I do not have insurance. What are my options?
Please contact our billing office right away at their toll free number 1-877-235-7688. We have a variety of different options available to assist patients without insurance, including payment plans and discounted pricing for uninsured patients.

I have never been to Radiology Associates of Wyoming Valley. Why are you billing me?
The radiologists of Radiology Associates of Wyoming Valley provide professional interpretations for the radiology services provided at Wilkes Barre General Hospital and other Commonwealth Health sites throughout the region. Although you may not have had contact with our physicians, they would have reviewed your exam and produced a report for the doctor who ordered your test.

Who authorized your services?
The hospital or facility where you had your procedure authorized the services. Hospital policy requires that a Board Certified, licensed radiologist perform and interpret diagnostic services.

I gave my insurance information to the hospital, why do you also need it?
We make every attempt to obtain this information from the hospital or facility. However sometimes we do not always receive complete or accurate insurance information, especially if that information was updated after the registration process. In these instances, we rely on your cooperation in providing us with complete and correct data.

Why was I billed for a workers’ compensation claim?
Please contact our billing office or have your employer contact them at, toll free, 1-877-235-7686 as soon as possible to confirm we have the correct and complete information for billing. We will need to have your date of injury, claim number and workers’ compensation insurance name and address. Since there are filing deadlines associated with this type of claim, timely communication is necessary.

My billing question was not resolved after I called your billing office, what should I do?
Please call the business office for Radiology Associates of Wyoming Valley at 570-586-5461. Although we do not have access to the billing system and cannot look up your account, we can take your information and have a billing manager contact you.

How do I get a copy of my images or final report?
Please contact the location/facility where you had your exam. Radiology Associates of Wyoming Valley only provides professional services and does not retain medical records. The facility where your procedure was performed will be happy to assist you.
